In 20 years, I want you to pick up your wedding images and laugh, lean your head to one side, sigh and then smile, even cry a little. Why? Because those are the moments that count. Having someone special help you get you into your dress, turning and seeing yourself in the mirror for the first time. The look on the father of the bride's face as he enters her room. She's no longer a little girl. And the groom, realizing he's the luckiest man in the world, anxiously awaiting his love to join him for the rest of their lives at the alter. And let's not forget about the epic reception! Those images? Priceless.

I photograph with the intention of locking those moments in time for you. Not only for you, but for your children and their children. This is the beginning of your family history, and I do not take this honor lightly. I document your day as it happens, ensuring you get to witness your, authentic, real story through images. I search for every minute detail that bursts with emotion, be it a roaring laugh, or a quiet tear.

I cannot wait to meet you!

xx, Aniya

Where are you located? Do you charge a travel fee for weddings not in your location?

I'm located in the gorgeous island of Barbados. There's nothing more I love than to travel. My work has brought me to other islands in the Caribbean, Canada and Italy. For weddings off island, clients are charged for travel expenses. I do not have a separate travel fee.

How long have you been in business? How many weddings have you photographed as the main photographer?

I've been in business since 2011 and started as a lifestyle family photographer. I began my wedding photography business in December 2014, documenting weddings in Barbados, as well as overseas.

Describe your "style" of wedding photography.

My style is not necessarily a "style". It's more of a perspective. It's how I (strongly) believe weddings should be photographed and remembered. My goal for your wedding is to create a unique, authentic, real story of who you are individually, and as a couple, incorporating the people, and things that mean the most to you. In order to capture genuine emotion, I do not direct during your day. You'll never hear me say "can you do that again for me?" Imagine a father coming into see his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time. You can never create, or recreate the look on his face as he sees his princess all grown up.
I am there to see the moments I know you are going to look back on in 20 or 30 years and laugh, or cry, and make beautiful images of those.

I do believe that there should be formal images - why not? But this is not the meaning of the day. Ideally, 15-20 minutes of formal images is ample time (of course depending on your family size) - but don't you want to get back to your guests and the party in your honor? I do!

What's the typical wedding coverage package that you offer? What is the price?

I have a base collection that clients can build up on. Want more hours? Let's do it! If you'd like an engagement session, we can do that also - I highly encourage it. But if not, you aren't roped into it. I also cover Rehearsal Dinners if you'd like to capture the laughs, and funny stories that are sure to be told!

Additionally, there is no wedding I cover without my second shooter (who happens to be my husband!). Together, we ensure that no moment is lost. For example, during the prep time, he gets to hang with one side of the wedding party, and I get to hang with the other! Win Win!

Do you have a studio where we can meet in-person?

I am in LOVE with Skype! Many of my clients are not in Barbados and because we are in 2016, there's no reason to not get to know each other before the big day. In fact, in my business, it's essential that we have a Skype conversation. You should be totally comfortable with your photographer - after all, we will be with you for the entire day.

If you're in Barbados - let's meet up for a coffee and a chat!

What are your professional degrees, credentials, affiliations? Have you taken any recent educational workshops or classes?

I hold a BA.(Hons) from the University of Toronto. A Masters of Arts from Boston University and a Law Degree from the University of the West Indies.

I am constantly updating my skills and education in photography. Below are the classes I have recently completed:
"Modern Story Telling" taught by Kirsten Lewis
"Documentary Wedding Photography: Capturing Reality" taught by Tyler Wirken
"Visual Storytelling: Why we shoot" taught by Ron Haviv & Ed Kashi
"Wedding Photography" taught by Joe Buissink
Extraordinary Engagements" taught by Callaway Gable
"Incredible Engagement Photography" taught by Pye Jirsa

Is there anything else you'd like to share about yourself?

A few tid bits:
I love to laugh - I sincerely think it's the best medicine. I've got 2 daughters and believe me, laughter fixes everything.
Next to laughter, I love reality. The good, the bad, everything.
My favorite movies are Love Actually, the Goonies and Ratatouille.

Thanks for stopping by!
