I am located in the Illawarra Region, just over an hour south of Sydney. I love to travel to photograph weddings! I keep travel costs to an absolute minimum, and depending on where it is, possibly no travel costs at all depending on how keen I am to visit! Travel costs are worked out on an individual basis with my couples based on their specific requirements for their day.
This is my second year as a fulltime business owner and I've shot about 35 weddings now I think? Lost count :)
Gosh, this is such a hard one. I like to tell my clients that I'm a 'vibe capturer' rather than curator. Whatever the unique and amazing vibe of your day is....I'm there to capture it. Always looking for the small, unnoticed moments and interactions throughout the day. To immerse myself in the celebration of the day. My aim as a photojournalist is of course to tell a story with each and every photograph, but also that the collection of photos are not just a pretty package. I want them to bring back real emotions. I want both my couples, and whoever they show the photos to, to actually get a real sense of what it was like to be there.
I love full day coverage. Start to finish. Its how I photograph best. If this is out of your budget however - I am totally flexible about removing hours/exchanging for print credit etc as most importantly I want to be able to work with people that connect with my style!
I definitely use Skype to chat with clients! I am also very happy to meet up (somewhere that serves great coffee only) and always aim to meet my couples in person before their day if at all possible! That was its more like I'm just a friend hanging out (with an expensive camera) rather than the paparazzi.
I'm self taught, however I'm an absolute glutton for education! Predominantly my education has come through The Define School, which is an amazing school based in the USA that I've done I think 7? courses through that has quite literally changed my photography and my life in the process. Education has given me the freedom to follow my own path with artistry and not try and fit anyone else's mould. It's also meant that I've met amazing people from all over the world, particularly in the USA and I'm DYING to get there and meet with them all in person! So USA couples....hit me up!
I'm just a regular person. Its kind of a weird thing to have someone come and photograph you all day. I get that. So I try and make that as painless as possible by not just pretending to be your friend, but actually getting to know you during the course of your engagement so that its not pretending, I do literally enjoy my client's company. And I do plan to have fun at your wedding. So lets do this!
