My sacred meditation is PHOTOGRAPHY. From it, every flower in my garden grows.
I love EVERYTHING about photography. I love the contact with people, going to places I would never go otherwise, having that permission to be there, to talk to people - being a photographer allowed me to be an official nosy person with a passport.
A journalism graduate, I decided in my very first year that even though I could write, photography was how I wanted to speak. At five feet tall, the camera opened doors, windows, and rolled out the red carpet for me to walk through. I learned to trade letters for colors, textures, shadows - and the stories... the same ones that once made me string words together now made me press the shutter. Stories. Stories of women and their bodies, women without memory, women discovering themselves, women in love, deconstructed, brides, married, single, pregnant, mothers, straight, gay, elderly, sad, happy... Its all about women and myself.
