I usually prefer being behind the camera rather than in front of it.

I’m Petra, and I live with my wife Leen and our dog Seppe in Wemeldinge, Zeeland, right near the Oosterschelde estuary.
People have always fascinated me—what drives them, what makes them unique, and the stories they carry with them.
That interest led me first to a career in the care and social sectors, and later to photography. I completed the Basic Photography Course followed by the Professional Photography Program at the *Academie voor Beeldcreatie* in Eindhoven, where I specialized in Human Interest photography.
My background still serves me well during photo shoots every day. I listen, observe, and take my time. This helps people feel at ease quickly, resulting in photos that are natural and authentic.
In addition to my work as a photographer, I volunteer with the *Make a Memory* Foundation and work part-time as a project leader and informal care coordinator for the *Manteling* Foundation.
For me, photography ultimately isn't just about beautiful images.
It’s about people, memories, and the moments that matter.
