My residential location is the town of Leavenworth in NE Kansas. Yes, there is a additional cost for travel so that I arrive a minimum of the night before the event and for accommodations the night of the event's conclusion. This is all discussed in advance.
I have been a professional photographer for 35 years - 17 as a staff photojournalist and most the past 20 years photographing weddings and events in addition to photos for publications. I've always photographed as the main photographer.
I am amendable to capturing artful portraiture but I prefer to be very fun and creative with this endeavor. Besides portraiture, the best images are as a photojournalist, observing and finding juxtapositions and moments spontaneously.
Typically, I the wedding day hours I photograph starts at a minimum of four hours and can go as long as 12 hours. An engagement session prior to the wedding day is highly recommended. The price range is $1700 to $3900 plus travel for me as a single still photographer. For some events, I may highly recommend a second or even a third photographer, depending on the guest count, duration and location. Each photographer who works with me is a highly experienced professional whose services fees are additional. This includes additional images captured.
I have a studio on my property. Video meetings are also available. Face to face meetings are highly recommended.
My degree is in English. I both write and photograph people stories as it is not always possible to entice writers to team up on the people stories I initiate. I am a member of the National Press Photographers Association, Professional Photographers of America and the Wedding Photojournalists Association. I have attended dozens of photography workshops and classes over my career, including the Missouri Photo Workshop, many NPPA Flying Short Course seminars, NPPA Women in Photojournalism seminars and have mentored young photographers through association with the Digital Wedding Forum. I have a strong network of professional colleagues.
I am amenable to providing limited portraits that are "traditional" - posed nicely, looking at the camera full length, to record the fundamentals of both time and place. Allowing me to "do what you do, Peggy" and getting creative juxtapositions and original captures is the best way to tap into what I have to offer. The cost is the same either way - I understand both ways of thinking from clients.
