Cat Life In The Lockdown

Photography by Kristof Claeys
In late March 2020, the world came to a standstill. Zoom became a necessity for our children's education, and my year's worth of photoshoots disintegrated in just three days. The struggle was universal. Consequently, I found myself in an eight-week lockdown in Belgium with my two daughters while my wife ventured out to work.

Amid this unique period, I sat down with my daughters, proposing to capture our journey – the inventive ways we combated monotony and navigated our confinement. Together, we weathered our " jail time" at home, not alone, but accompanied by our three furry companions, who often became unwilling participants in our quest to ward off boredom. While two of the cats are no longer with us, reflecting on this era reveals it as the most cherished time of our lives, marked by an authentic family bond that extended even to our feline members.
